About the Blog

We are a military couple and we are the most unlikely personal finance experts you’ll ever meet.

We have made all the financial mistakes and suffered the fallout. We know what financial rock bottom feels like.

Sometimes, though, blessings disguise themselves as tragedy. Our financial troubles felt like a hurricane bearing down on us, but what we didn’t realize at the time was that a colossal cloud could also yield an equally substantial silver lining.

This blog is that silver lining. We learned the hard way from our mistakes and we are elated that we might be able to use that experience to help other military families like us.

The renewed mission of Our Camo Covered Life is to provide our military community, both active duty and reserves, with inspiration and tools to build a better and more secure financial future.

About the Author

My name is Kate and I am a freelance writer and blogger living blissfully in San Diego with my husband, Bill, and our two fur-kids, Jack and Scamp.

My husband and I met while he was on active duty stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, and now, the better part of a decade later, we find ourselves with the California National Guard, two deployments stronger and one financial catastrophe wiser.
